Great place. Comfy beds, possibly could do with more pillows on beds. Wooden floors make it quite noisy when people are moving around. A bit noisy till the bars close. Breakfast was lovely

I booked a stay at The Nook in Holmfirth between October 31st and 2nd November for my wife and her stepdaughter, who were on a pottery course. Unfortunately, the hotel was horrendous:

1) The business promises daily housekeeping, but the dirty cups were still in the room in the evening of the 1st, the bins hadn't been emptied, the beds weren't made, and the bathroom hadn't been cleaned.

2) There was noise until 1.00 am with a load of drunken people shouting and swearing beneath the window.

3) On the final day there was no breakfast available at 8.30 despite the fact that notices said that 8.00 was the start time. Apparently the chef was coming in at 9.00 because that's when the rest of the guests were eating, so my family had to find somewhere to eat as the course started shortly after.

4) Someone was able to enter the landing on which the family's room was situated and stood outside their door something like 5 times. The landing was supposed to be locked and there were only two rooms on it, so they definitely weren't looking for their own room. The two ladies were truly alarmed by this and the episode only stopped when my wife shouted to them to 'GO AWAY'.

Terrible place. Avoid like the plague.

The only bright spot was that Hotels.com gave us a small refund. Unfortunately The Nook wouldn't give anything.

Stayed here twice, drank in the Nook many many times! A great local full of interesting and quirky characters.
The rooms are lovely, clean and modern. My only complaint would be that the room was stifling hot and had to turn the radiator off. Breakfast was lovely. Would recommend and would stay again.

A lovely old style yet quirky pub. Full of character and from our experience,a very popular place for a Friday night pint. There is an open fire and as many seats as can be fit in. A pool table and music. Dogs are welcome and this definitely added to the great atmosphere. I really enjoyed our visit.

A very mixed but overall unenjoyable experience of the Nook, Holmfirth. For context, this stay was to celebrate my partners birthday, which she was looking forward to as the Peaks is one of her favourite places to explore.

A few hours prior to arrival we received a call from the owner, indicating that our booking was not valid, and that we would need to pay the room fee again.

On our invoice, that we received when booking, a few weeks prior to our stay, was printed with the correct dates and will have hit the Nook’s system.

Like most, we did not book direct with the Nook, and instead booked with a 3rd party provider. They insisted the booking appeared on their system marked as the previous day, yet produced no evidence nor demonstrated sympathy for the circumstance we found ourselves in. Simply, the owner demanded we pay the full fee, again.

Upon arrival we spoke to a staff member who agreed with our circumstance based on the produced invoice and checked us into the room we had booked. Then, we went for a meal and thought nothing of it, assuming the matter finished.

During a meal that evening, we received a flurry of missed calls from the hotel. The owner had called my partners phone 5+ times, which when we took the call, she begun demanding payment, and implied we had lied (despite producing our invoice with the stated date of stay) to her staff member and lied to her. We were very clear in our position but the owner refused to offer any sympathy or compensation which we believe was due. She was keen only to be paid for something she was not entitled to.

Myself and my partner do not frequently get time to go away for trips, and this put a fundamental damper on the experience. I was upset to see someone who did not even care about the customer and simply saw us as liars attempting to take money from her.

A real shame on what could have been a good stay.

No parking

Pub is ‘authentic’ … if you enjoy middle aged men playing Du Hast at Max Volume around an old Pool Table you are in luck!

Overall quite disappointed. Will not be returning, I would recommend you visit somewhere else in total honesty!

Decent pub with great selection of ales. Staff could be a bit more welcoming and maybe act like they want you there.
