The plants are in kept in great condition and the border are good for inspiration. I asked about a particular plant which I wanted 2 of and there was only one in the display area. The person serving me went off to check on this particular plant in their nursery area and came back to show me that they had more that had been potted on but that the root systems weren't developed enough for them to sell yet. They suggested I return in a couple of weeks.
I was impressed with how my enquiry was dealt with and care for selling plants in top condition.

Such a contrast to the average garden centre experience. Friendly, knowledgable staff, plenty of mature plants on display in their garden, great range of plants in good condition and very competitive prices. A genuine local gem.

Brilliant nursery, healthy plants, clear labels and they kindly let customers take cooking apples today for free and I've made a lovely crumble 🙂

I have been buying plants from this nursery for about 3 years now, different types for both full sun and shade, grasses, and Dahlias. They have all done exceptionally well, even though I’ve hardly planted them in ideal conditions. Most of my garden was water-retentive, heavy clay. Even so, the plants from The Plant Specialist have done well from their first year. I would say that the plant selection includes both popular, well known varieties, as well as lots of unusual ones. I have been inspired to try out lots of new plants because of how handsome they look in their pots when I visit.

Pictured below are:
- two Heleniums “Moerheim Beauty”, in their second year,
- a Cynara cardunculus, planted about a year prior,
- a Dahlia 'Verrone's Obsidian', planted 2 months prior.

All purchased from this nursery.

The prices are very reasonable, and much lower than at retail garden centres.

A geat independent garden centre. Beautifully laid out labeled garden areas so you can walk around and see many of the plants on offer in situ. A really different and wide variety of plants for sale in great condition, fairly priced with personal service, well worth several visits!

Perfect place to find flower-bed fillers and have multiple varieties of every species they carry. Be aware that this is a nursery, not a garden centre so you won't find lawn furniture, a cafe or gardening tools here. They also don't stock trees and shrubs here as they only sell the flowers, herbs and general bedding plants that they cultivate themselves. All the plants are grown on site, are used to the local soil and are bred by the people who work there so if you have any questions or specific requirements, you are in the best place. They have some lovely rare specimins that you are not likely to find in any garden centre and for good prices too. They also have beautiful gardens that you can walk through for inspiration. Most importantly, it's all laid out in alphabetical order which is just incredibly satisfying. I would recommend for anybody inexperienced who might need some guidance, or just anybody in the area looking for good quality plants.
