We visited today for the first time since I was a child. I used to love coming here however we left feeling very upset. The hamsters only had a couple of cm of bedding and we watched one getting very stressed due to not being able to burrow. Some of the reptile enclosures were nicely set up and the shop is well stocked but we did leave feeling very upset about the condition of some of the environments. I thought that our animal welfare knowledge had come further than this. If pet shops model appropriate care and management of animals then it also helps owners to do the same. We should always strive to provide high quality care.

We visited to look for supplies for our hamsters. They were well stocked with supplies however we refuse to buy from them because of the very poor conditions they keep their rodents in. Not enough bedding, no hides, no wheels(!), poor.

We tried to talk to the general manager about it but she was very argumentative and pretty much laughed us off. Very rude.

It has everything you could possibly want or dream of needing. We had a pively time browsing all of the animals before getting our fish and leaving. The staff were so helpful and friendly.

Avoid! Poor animals not looked after. Went in every week to check on them and they had no water, food and lighting wasn't on or broken bulbs?!! Poor neglected snakes and reptiles etc. Unacceptable!! Told staff every visit but it still goes on. Please report your findings as I have! They need shutting down.
WILL BE GOING AGAIN THIS WEEK TO CHECK ON THEM AND REPORT FINDINGS.

Now with added reptiles and spiders.. So just had to purchase a red rump they had for my tank that was empty! Now an even better shop than before and staff are lovely.

Good supplies and staff friendly enough, but not nice conditions for live small animals - I saw no wheels for rodents and little enrichment etc. I was very disappointed to see that they’re selling small cages for rodents which shows they are uneducated on the size of cages needed for smaller animals, and would be happy to provide an inadequate cage for a small animal just to generate profit.

Good selection of aquatic supplies but once again, the fish are not kept in nice conditions.
I would not visit again due to feeling this shop had a lack of care for the welfare of the animals.

I dont even want to leave 1 star
Absolutely awful my son purchased a guinea pig in less than 24hrs it was rushed to the vet
It had prolapsed due to bad diet not being cared for properly at the pet shop. Sadly the vet couldnt save it and was put to sleep. The shop has a legal obligation to refund the cost of pet and vet fees
This will be taken further as they refuse to reimburse vet fee saying they would have to pay everyone

Our favourite reptile place and garden center! Staff are so friendly and helpful. I've got two of my lovely crested geckos from this place and will definitely come back when I need things for them.
